Pressure

Pressure.
Overwhelming, defeating.
A ticking clock.
Tick-tock-tick-tock.
Mocking you,
breaking you.

Pressure.
Shaking, sweating.
Hysterical panic.
Fear of your antics,
Failing you,
betraying you.

Pressure.
Fearing, fretting.
Foolish decisions.
Lack of precision.
Sanity bends.
At wit’s end.

[I wrote this poem maybe three or four years ago when I was struggling to cope with exam stress. I have finals coming up in a few weeks and the pressure is definitely starting to build. It seems that no matter where you are in life or what you’re doing, there will always be that moment when you feel as if the pressure is about to overwhelm you.]
